My name is August Flanagan and I am a graduate of the University of Washington holding a B.S. in Biochemistry. After graduating I received a Bonderman Fellowship to travel around the world solo for one year. As I traveled through Central America, and then Asia, I began to realize how urgent the problems of climate change are. This realization led me to shift gears away from health based research science in order to focus on promoting/implementing energy reduction strategies as well as advocating for and participating in the development of alternative energy technologies.
Once my travels were finished I started working as a Project Manager for eComponents Technology, a software firm that provides customers with web-based enterprise energy management software. I have worked on multiple projects including the development of a greenhouse gas benchmarking and reporting program that will allow enterprises to easily track their Carbon emissions from any number of facilities around the world. Additionally, I continue to work as a Research Technician at the University of Washington on a project related to enhancing the efficiency of enzymes used to create new biofuels.
I have created this blog to help myself and others stay on top of what is going on in the global “Green” community. This blog will be updated frequently with information on new technology, legislation, events, and other relevant topics.

Hi August
My name is Kristen and I’m the owner of modernecohomes.com. We’re currently running a competition on our blog and are asking viewers to subscribe to our newsletter, as well as submit a cool, new “eco tip for the home”. In return, we’ll select a winner based on the entries and the victor will receive a super awesome Solio Magnesium Solar Charger. We think it’s a great prize and just in time for the holidays. We would be incredibly grateful if you would link to the blog post and maybe write about it on your blog? It would greatly assist us in our green efforts. I am happy to be of service in anyway I can to you and your blogs as a thank you. Just let me know how best I can help you and I’ll take it from there!
Every little bit of help in our green efforts makes a difference. Thanks so much.
